    Answers please

I have a new Lee Mold C309-170F. I am using ww's water quenched, and am getting 312 and 177gr. is that normal? I want to use for light 30-06 and 30-30. Will gc as soon as they get here. Does this sound ok?

It sounds great, you should be oversized by at least .002" and a tad heavy. Even the old iron molds pour that way. The oversize means the lead bullet will work, a copper one would have to be smaller, to the inside or the bore.
I'm not a fan of Lee but, it's a great start. You'll be fine.

And I might add that that boolit is extremely accurate. I use it in everything from 30/30 to 300 WM.

That boolit, in my 30-30 and my 30-06 shoots just fine. It's little brother, the 150, is also pretty good in a 30 Herret. And yes they will be a few grains heavy if cast from wheel weight.

Sounds like a winner, buttt . . . How does the nose fit your bore?

ok I did the bullet in loose in case to find OAL to barrel. Comes out of gun at 2.72". OAL to clear load tube to action comes in at 2.52". (win 30-30) Is that to big of a jump? I could load single shot I guess

Shyoldman, welcome to the forum. What is more important is that the bullets will feed through your gun and how they group. If you are only looking for a target load and feeding as a single shot OAL means nothing unless your 30-30 Win is a lever action. With a lever action you will have to drop the cartridge into the chamber and fire it as they will be too long to eject.
