Primer choice for cast rifle loads?

If you had a choice of primers brands which do you like the best?I usually get whatever is in stock locally. I have a choice of Fed ,Win, CCI, and Remington. WIN and CCI same price( $27) , Federal are $3 more (30) and Rem are $1 more than Fed. per 1000 ($31)...Thanks Rick

The Federals do just great for me. I changed to them from CCI some time ago, and I've been a CCI fan for years...

Did I ever mention that I hate to trim brass?

Winchester has served me well for the large pistol primers I need. I have used and have in stock some CCI and CCI magnums too. I have fairly light main springs in my arns, but nary a problem with failing to bast a cap. The Wins seem to feed better in my progressive press.

Only Wins and Feds here. The cups are softer and print faster. I like to watch my pressure signs.

May want to look at Wolf. Good primers and cheaper.

I picked up a 2k of Muron primers for my plinking loads (7x57), although I use Win LR for my hunting loads. They were under half the cost of CCI which is the cheapest of the name brands here. I have Fed 215's and Win LRM for my 404. Use WSR and CCI for different loads in 20 VarTarg.

    Primer choice

A while back, I bought a bunch of Remington #9 1/2s. They were not plated, and seemed soft.
Over the chronograph, I found the primers are weaker. It may be just the lot that I got, but CCIs, WWs, Federals and Mag-techs give higher velocities. The variations usually are smaller for RPs.
I've read quite a few recommendations to use LP primers with pistol-powders and CBs, but haven't gotten around to trying them, so I'll have to say that my favorite is the RP.
    Have fun,
    Gene
