    Angry Lee #4 (223) shellholder

My Lee #4 shellholder seem to be undersized as my fired brass will not fit with the smallest burr or defect. I know that my Armalite M-15 and Ruger Mini 14 do not treat brass with kidd gloves but the shellholder seems very unforgiving.
Does any one else have this problem?

Me neather. Some manuafactures of brass can be off at time a little bit. You could take a hair off your shell holder with a dremil.

i have a friend who bought the remington version of the ar , while the brass from our ranch rifles and mini's fit fine once or twice thru the ar and the rim/head is toast [shrugz] mil-surp brass seemed to last a lil longer but not much

How is it with non-fired brass? I've had no trouble with mine in the past. LEE has a warranty, send it back.

I have no problem with mine -- and half my brass is random range pick up stuff...

Yes, and I solved it by simply rounding the area where the case enters the holder with a fine stone in a Dremel. I gave it just a touch to radius the sharp corner and then made it smooth with a rubber abrasive point in the Dremel. If you are going to get a new holder from Lee, Get their whole universal set it is a great bargain and you will have an extra. I crimp on a different press so I need 2 shell holders at once to setup my station for .223 when I load cast bullets.

I have this issue with some of my brass. Seems to be more of an issue with 5.56 brass. I've read on here in other places of the same issues with the lee shell holder for .223
