    Question for you shot makers

Hi I am in process of making shot, have all components except vessel to catch shot in. I will ask the stupid question, can you use a plastic 5 gallon bucket filled with the coolant? Next how deep a vessel is optimum? Thanks for all help. Mac

I have very limited exp. but as long as it cools before hittin the bottom is fine , it`ll be shorter in cool weather & longer in hot or after the coolant warms up if the dripper goes that fast !

The dripper I ran had a basin that the shot fell into with tranny fluid in it 16" deep & the fluid was viscous enuff to slow decent but not deform the drip.

Whatcha gonna use for coolant ????

I have been using a 50 cal ammo can to catch my shot. Not sure what the optimum depth would be but if you can fill a 5 gal bucket and have a catch pan big enough I think you are set. I wouldn't worry about the bucket melting if that is what you were inquiring.

I use antifreeze for coolant. I have found that the shot is hard after traveling through about 6" of coolant. It sure would be nicer to have more coolant so I could run longer before the coolant gets hot.
