A ton of Lino

The local scrap yard just got over a ton of Lino this week. $2.10 per kg
Just had to buy some. I got 50kgs $110. ouch. I guess you gotta buy now cause it's getting harder to get.

Isn't a kilo about 2.5 lbs? If so, that's not a bad price at all. But I also don't know what that would exchange to in USD, is it close?

It's about 97 cents a pound (US)... at current exchange... so, it isn't that bad at all...

I'd buy it all for that price! When I used to by Lino my top dollar was $1.25/lb. shipped.

1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds

1 Australian dollar = .97 US dollar (I'm showing .92, but do not have today's exchange)

They are charging lead Foot $2.10 (Australian) per kilogram.

1. Convert the currency:
$2.10 Australian x .97 US = $2.04 USD/kilogram

2. Convert the weight:
1 kilogram =2.2 pounds

3. Calculate cost/pound:
$2.04 divided by 2.2 pounds = .93 USD/lb

Where I live, 93 cents for a pound of lino is a very good price!

All us local casters have all been in and bought up large ~ word gets around quick. he has only a 44 gallon (55gallon US) drum left. I live way out of town so a friend picked some up for me. The best thing about it ~it's in small pieses and clean; so straight in the pot it goes.

I think you paid a little too much. I paid .40 per pound. Here's the deal. Recycler has to pay for the shipping to ship his scraps to a depot on the mainland (I live in Hawaii). the recycler would be getting a little bit more if he sells it to people like me.

Leadman, if you get it fluxed good the gross should end up nothing but a little carbon. No clumps. You probably already know that but, I just throw it out for passer by-ers that it takes fluxing and smashing into the sides with intent and diligence

Talked to friend of friend who new the guy who sold the lino. He got paid $1.60 kg.
So I told the friend of a friend to tell the guy who sold the lino we would have payed more than he got paid.
