    WW lead

Hi Kathie. Read through your post and was wondering what the status of your clip on WW ingots was? I would be interested in obtaining some if you have a supply. I understand you may have many customers in wait and that is fine. Just let me know if I am on a wait list, you want me to periodically check in or if you have stock now. Thanks. Tim

Hey Kathie, too late for this batch but if you have
limb loppers (tree pruner shears?) they cut sheet
lead pretty easy, the long handles help, better than
tin snips and probably more leverage than a
    paper cutter.
I'll be watching, could use some soft stuff.

Thanks for the tip. I do have limb loppers, but this lead was so soft that the tin snips and the paper cutter did the job. However, I now know that I already had a tool on hand to make the cutting job easy (or easier!!!). Please send me a PM in regard to "some soft stuff" ... THANKS!!! ~ K

Just a curious question if I need say 10 or 20 boxes of your ww lead would that be something you would be willing to take on? not in a position to do it right now but might be in a few months.
Depends on the economy and where I am living and such.
thanks for the lead I have gotten from you so far it is the best

YIKES......... I think the postal workers would throw me out of the building (even if I made it that far) Right now, due to an informal list that I have scribbled with requests (both here in this thread, and via PM), I may have to invoke my right to limit quantities (1 box) per person so that I have hopefully have enough for everyone.

I ONLY WISH THAT MY BUSINESS WAS SUCH THAT I COULD SELL 10 or 20, or even more to you (and to others!!!!) I simply don't have the quantity to accomplish this task, even if I spaced out the number of boxes to post office so that only a couple were taken daily or every other day.

It is unfortunate, but more and more iron/zincs are appearing "on the scene"....

In closing, I truly thank you for your compliment by way of desiring many boxes of ww lead from me and its quality.

    With kind regards,

    ~ K

Thanks for the heads up Katie
might just have to ask as I get some funds if you have any lead available and buy what you can let me have.
I don't want to see anyone get cheated because of my needs or wants. One of the reasons I like working with you.

now maybe we need to look at this over say a year two period and then maybe I could get my 10-20 boxes. ha ha
    keep up the good work.

Anywhooo, I will do my best to keep you supplied!!!!

More range lead, in addition to brass !!! Part 1

    Hi friends,

I am on a roll here with my camera, and thought I would do another photo essay.

Yesterday, I was expecting to reclaim around 1000 pounds of range lead.... that turned out to be about 1800+ LBS !!!! And this range used to turn in their brass to their reloader for credit on ammo purchased (so I used to reclaim 22 brass). Well, the reloader is out of business and they could not find any one local - and going out of state is too costly. So they dangled their cheese under this mouse's nose! I was expecting 22 brass, in addition to about 200 - 300 pounds of brass. NOT..... the haul was about 735LB's..... I came prepared, but my vehicle breathed a sigh of relief when I got the stuff off-loaded today !!!!! Update (3/23/12): a couple of weeks ago, I got a very attractive offer for the range lead, so off to the scrap yard it went... and I loaded it all back into the vehicle by myself (using the proper equipment, and sometimes having to scoop out lead from the trays that held 100+ pounds. I made about the same amount of profit as I would have, if I smelted the lead. 1800 pounds does not equate to 1800 pounds of ingots, unfortunately. From this particular range, I estimate the yield in ingots would be about 50 to 55%. Plus I have to take the time to sift the lead prior to smelting to remove the jackets, and small particulates that don't melt. Then there is the rent (if I use the loading dock at my former shop, even for 1 day in a month, I have to pay the full rent. If I don't use the loading dock at all in a given month, I don't havet to pay rent. Then there is my time, cost of propane, lugging, etc.). I will be getting more range lead mid April that has a better yield due to the members shooting mostly .22's. With the 1800 punds, there is a lot of frangible ammo shot at that range. By turning the lead into the scrap yard, I get paid for the full 1800 pounds. I will be casting WW's starting in April. So stay tuned........

And, fortunately I was able to not have them dump all the center fire brass into my containers!!!! I still have to go through each batch (check for live rounds); and I will see if there is any interest on the forum for those wishing to buy different calibers (as I have done in the past, via a "new" thread). And I have loads of rifle brass from the past couple of years.... Most of it has been patiently waiting for me to devote attention to their respective buckets, but there seems to not be enough hours in the day for me since I am involved in other endeavors in addition to my scrap metal business: working part time in law enforcement, maintaining the website: http://www.pcact.org, and being a contract executive secretary.... so this tired ol' lady has many irons in the fire!

And if anyone is interested in brass, let me know via a PM.

For the 9's and 40's (which may just go to the scrap yard, since I have found these not to be too much in demand), I would sell by the pound to get an approximate piece count - and am asking 3 cents a piece (with a fair amount sent for free as extras). So, I am hoping if anyone desires these 2 calibers (9 and 40), please send me a PM as soon as practical.... I will be sorting through these calibers first to check for live rounds. If no interest, off to the scrap yard they will go !!!

In addition to the 45 ACP reclaimed yesterday, I have more in a 5-gallon bucket that I sorted out a few days ago from another batch of brass. I will have yet to weigh it. Pictured below is the 45 ACP brass reclaimed yesterday:

    Container 1 of 2 for 9mm:

    Container 2 of 2 for 9mm:

And from a batch previous to the pickup done yesterday, is a bucket of rifle brass. And somewhere is a bucket (maybe more) of .223 (not pictured obviously since I have to "unearth" them from a stack of buckets with brass in them from previous pickups).

More range lead, in addition to brass !!! Part 2

Part 2: Range lead transport and off-loading photo essay.

    Top layer done!

I could have not off-loaded all of these trays (20) without the help of my helper, Marcel. Trays weighed anywhere from 80 to 120 pounds:

    And onto the bottom layer:

Job complete! Wagon back in its "home" - in between the 2 bays (yes, I can fit 2 cars into the workshop when it serves as a garage)... 1800+LBs of range lead patiently waiting for sifting, then smelting:

Now I await for warmer weather, and I have PLENTY TO DO in the meanwhile. And I will be picking more range lead 2nd week of April, and probably another batch of range lead in May. No lead shortage here!!!!!

    Hi,

Range lead is $51 shipped to your door, for a 50+LB box. If interested, kindly send a PM. I have range lead ingots in stock, but no WW ingots (have to wait for warmer weather to cast them up).

    Thanks!

    Kathy,
You might want to post a thread in the swaging section about selling the 9mm and .40. Probably a lot of interest among swagers for these calibers.
