    A Tingle Mule Ear .32

    A bit of porn. The 42 " barrel is by Numrich. The Tingle lock is usually seen on his shotguns only - but the guy at the shop where I bought it said Tingle would make most anything the customer wanted. At any rate - I haven't seen any other Tingle "Mule Ear" rifles. 100% sure firing - and the set trigger is adjusted down to about an ounce. Very accurate little gun - I usually load 25 grains of 3F behind a .310 ball and a .010 greased patch. Bought it back in 1970 (about) and I have no idea what it's worth - but it's not for sale anyway.

    Very nioce looking Tennessee rifle. Mule ears were not uncommon, but not real common either. They were said to have the ignition advantage similar to an underhammer where there is no ignition channel as in a patent breech and reputabley quicker. Larry Pletcher of ML magazine tested them against a regular lock and found no real difference. They still make for an interesting rifle and yours is a very nice rifle. If it shoots good and is enjoyable to shoot and you like it that is all that matters. Should be a deadly squirrel, rabbit gun.

    Ha! Killed a big female fox squirrel last year with it that was just beautiful. She was chewing me out from a limb about 30 feet up in a Hickory that was 41 paces away. Not that fond of cleaning squirrels so all I take is head shots anymore. The ball took off the back of her head and she dropped just as pretty as can be. When I picked her up I had to laugh 'cause the ball impact made her eyes bug out. Of such things are memories fashioned.........
