    Adjustable Height Needed

I shoot out in a rural area. We have a great back stop and I have the range to myself whenever I want to shoot by myself or take a friend.......

I have a 3 legged shooting bench that is very steady and stable . It works well. I'm 6' 5" , so my chair height to the table and the height needed for someone that is 5' 6" is quite different. We continue to have problems with chair height.

My friends and I have a folding chair that has worked about as well as a submarine with screen doors addressing this height problem.

I finally decided to make a shooting stool that is adjustable for height. You can make height changes in 30 seconds. I think this will solve our problems. The adjustment is made by moving a pair of 5/16 " dia. bolts that have wing nuts on their ends. Quick, low tech, and safe. Every where two pieces of wood touch there is wood glue. This one will last for a LONG TIME !

The first photo is of the bench ( this isn't our problem ).

The next photos are of the adjustable seat :

Nice setup, Ben! I would like to hear more about the rifle in the photo as well. Is that a stock Midway used to sell? I have that one and the green one just like it, slated for "twin" Mausers in .416 Taylor and .458 Win. Mag.

    Very nice.

Yes, in the days when MidWay was still selling Fajen stocks, I bought that one.
The action in the rifle is a VZ-24 action and has an A & B stainless barrel ,
F-54 contour, 308 Win. I glass bedded the action, put in a Timmney Trigger
that is adjusted to 1.0 lbs.

It is one of the most accurate rifles that I own. A joy to own and shoot with cast bullets.

    The rifle has a Vari-X III, 30 mm, 6.5 X 20 with a 50 mm bell with A/O on it.
The scope has tapered cross hairs with a target dot.

The group below was shot with this rifle, it is sub inch for 5 shots @ 100 yds.
4 of the bullets are in about 5/8" or so.
