I very rarely buy lead and I never sell it so I can't give you a really good idea. The last wheel weights I got cost me 50# of cleaned lead bars for 150# of wheel weights. I just had a friend drop off 500 # of lead pipe that he picked up at a hazardous waste turn in. No charge! You really need to develope the scrounger attitude. For example I trade fishing weights for lino at the local print shop and i get scraps of 50-50 bar solder from a local who does old time auto body.

I did a google on commoditys, scrap lead prices etc. After wasteing a lot of the U's time going through 100's of pages.I got a few links here for anyone interested
From what I see the pure stuff in the commoditys market it is about a buck a pound. The last link is from a Detroit scrap dealed on what he is paying as of 2/4/16 [see non ferrous link] Lead scrap $ .31 lb. -Wheel Weights $ .18 lb.

It seems that the engery price has hit the cost bad along with the Chit-comms buying up everything. But the price a dealer will pay you for your scrap has not gone up too much for pb scrap.
Now #1 copper for 1.91 WOW. that is a double in price since I last sold some!

The crack heads around here are destorying $5000 air conditioners to rip out the copper coils... a few bucks worth of copper to them, a $20,000 repair job to one local business.

i'm not actually looking at buying, I'm selling. Maybe this short story will explain it.
college student attends MTU, gets raped on tution every semester and barely affords rent/groceries. College student turns 21 in May and desires to use his constituational right to self defense but cannot afford +250 fee of getting CPL. Sitting in World Cultures one day, college student relizes he has +3000 lbs of scrap range lead at his dispose and gets bright idea.

You can probably imagine the rest. I called the local yard and he quoted me at 1 penny a pound. I figured this was a little low. I think I'll call him back and see what he has to say.

I imagine if you would advertise it in your local shopper, at scrap price or even above, you would find someone local who would buy it. There are more of us out there!

um, I'm figuring on .10 cents a pound. I you guys are intrested, I can ship 65 pounds in a flat rate box. that would come out to just under 15.00 per 65 pounds. This lead does have copper jacketing mixed in. I use this stuff my self to cast, I've had 185 LSWC from .45 acp up to 1100 fps with out leading.

Lead is 0.14 cents a pound, light copper is $1.58/lb, #2 Copper is $1.63/lb. Brass is $1.03/lb here in NY as of 2/3/06. That's what the yard will pay.
