    Trapdoor light load?

i have a Pedersoli trapdoor and recently bought a rcbs 45-325 mould for a lighter recoiling round. Any suggestions on a powder choice and range to make this thing accurate and more pleasurable to shoot? Been using 26 grains of 5744 and its pretty stiff

Try 10 to 12 grains of unique.

12-13 grains of Unique under a 300-350 grain boolit makes a nice load. 1100-1150 fps and very low recoil.

Just enough 2F black powder to allow seating the bullet to its crimp grove. Use the bullets as-cast with a soft lube. Trap doors are easy to clean with a boot lace pull through and a couple of patches. And Hoppe's bore cleaner. Then a dry patch and an oiled one. Yeah, I was amazed when I first saw a friend clean his sharps with modern bore cleaner. He said he'd been using it for years. And the bore is like a mirror.
