I would think regular 3/4" tip-off .22 type scope mount for a 1" tube would work fine
I think scoping a 66 is on par with scoping a lever. Just destroys what the gun is/should/can be. These guns are just such awesome Point shooters!!
Not teal sure that that clam shell receiver would even hold zero....
BUT I also understand aging eyes.

It will hold zero- I had my doubts but it does. I have a peep on mine but when I scoped it I used these old Redfield rings. Any brand will work if the web between the claws is deep enough to clear the reciever hump. Be sure to butt the front ring against the forward end of the grooves and don't overtighten the clamps. It used to be that a Leupold was worth more than a Nylon66 but those days are over. If you will PM me I can probably find an extra set of .22 1" rings around here.

I've never had good luck scoping 66s, if you do use ones of steel. Remember the "action" is nothing but a sheet metal stamping. It need claws that will seat properly in the grooves. Low end Alumilum rings usually won't grip tight and will work loose quickly.
Jon p. ?? (I think it was) over on rimfirecentral.
Advised me..
No gorrilla grip on the forend.
And they'll shoot good.
They do.
Mine is a tack driver.
(I think they all are) if Barrel is tight.
And don't squzze the forend to tightly.
Extremely reliable and dependable and trustworthy.
Remington should bring em back.
For some reason I have never had any luck with a scope on a Nylon 66. I always thought the stamped receiver cover was not stable enough. The rifle does have great iron sights and I had good eyes at the time. I tend to agree with CW on scoping a 66, it is what is and it does what it is very well. I gave my last one to one of my kids and it was stolen, should have kept it. Very tough and dependable.
My daughter wanted this rimfire scope on her Black Diamond 66, the "pink" was the selling point.

Mine got a set of $20 aluminum Bass Pro specials, which look like a cheesy matte finish version of what's in T.B.G.'s post. They have some form of sticky pad inside the ring surface. They adequately hold the old Redfield 2-7 with the square "TV screen" field of view that I got for nothing, or next to nothing.
As I recall (don't feel like getting it out of the safe) the tricky bit in the system is the stamped receiver cover. If I remember right, my solution was to clamp the front ring TIGHT to the very front of the rail where the groove comes to a dead end. Not that there's MUCH recoil with H.V. .22's, but what there is will try to scoot the scope forward. Find a way to give it no place to go.

Check out the Gru-Bee wolf pup Scopes.
3/4 rimfire scope.
Great glass.. nice high gloss.
Perfect for a Nylon 66 and a Browning SA-22.
I have used my Burris tip-off aluminum rings on several rifles over the years and they work great.
Currently casting and loading: .32 Auto, .380 Auto, .38 Special, 9X19, .357 Magnum, .257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor, .30 WCF, .308 WCF, .45-70.
I put a scope on my sons 66 many years ago and always had a problems with the scope moving even though it only a 22. I don't think he has shot it since.

I just realized my 66 is 50-1/2 years old! S/n corresponds to Feb 1969 manufacture date. Btw, I do have a red dot mounted on it.
My old Nylon 66 usually can be found right here in my old Silverado. Dirty and dependable they complement each other nicely.

I jb welded roll pins in the groves on my model 60 to keep the scope in place.
Whatever!
^^^ This.^^^ Keep it small and light.
I usually have to go with a peep due to the front sight being fuzzy anymore. But don't want to tap my 66 for a side mounted peep. I have a Williams peep that goes in the scope grooves but not going to use it as it requires a way high front sight.
If it comes down to it, I'll put one of my small Fastfire dots on the Nylon, or go with the Gru-Bee scope.
