    NEI #278, .45-410-PP, 0.443" Diameter

Have any yall had success with this NEI design?
I have one that I got about 1991 or so but no longer have a 45-70 (right now). And it never worked out.
I'm thinking about getting it honed out to use paper patched in the .458" bore diameter TC New Englander. But, thought that first I'd inquire as to whether or not it is worth keeping as is.

    Thank you for the input.
Was surprised to see compressing that much. Live and learn!

you can either loose fill the case and compress the 1/2 inch or you can drop the powder through a long tube and only have to compress it a 1/4 inch or less, compression is a real arbitrary thing ,depending on how you put powder in the case , but a snugly compressed load will almost always shoot cleaner than a loosely filled case , and there are as many different ways to charge a case as there are powder brands , so nothing is really set in stone,,
basically just get the powder to a level where the lube cookie and wads leave a couple 10ths to set the bullet in the case.
