If it's like this area, old houses get donated to the fire departments for training purposes. It is amazing what nice stuff some people leave inside the houses to burn!
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
As a volunteer from the looks of things it is a training fire
My first thought was it is a grain elevator fire, and he has 200,000 bu. of beans in storage, with insurance. Hummm, at over $9.00 a bu. a big ins. check. But wait, it can't be that, he has no farmer tan.
