    A helpful tip for those using GI magazines for the 1911

    Complaints have been voiced about old GI magazines cracking at the square corners of the feed lip cutout on the back of the magazine.

    The cure for this is simple.

    Take a small round needle file and radius the corner to be a very gentle curve, a very small half moon.

    Cracking in this area will no longer be a problem. Magazine life will be much improved. So modified, I have many long lasting old magazines.

    Blaze away.

    Thanks 35, that's a damn good idea. I'll put it to work.

    35 remington;
    You are SPOT on. Most of my magazines have been so modified. Just simple stress relief. Definitely worthwhile.

    Thanks for the tip 35remington, my Colt clone ate one of the feed lips on one of my Pachmayr mags last summer. I'll try your fix and see if I can't save the other three.
