Tell me about your 32 Remington. I just acquired a Rem 141 in that caliber and would like to get it up and running. (sorry, WAY off topic!)

I've owned 3 Taurus handguns, ranging from 22 LR to 44 mag. They've all been reliable, accurate tools. Wish I'd kept the 44, but just had to have...I don't remember what I needed so badly at the time!

X-ray lead is good & soft- great for muzzleloaders. I asked the same question about color change awhile back:

I do have the wrench that fits the reservoir, and apparently the model I have uses a set screw instead of a die retaining nut. I've spent a little more time with it and *think* I have a pretty good...

I'm a 'thinner' too. I use mineral spirits and thin the LLA to the consistency of water, then dip my bullets. Early in my casting life I used it much thicker, but like others here have pointed out,...

That's the one! Thanks, Montana Charlie! Only difference is mine is missing the wooden handle and was $75 cheaper.
I printed the instructions for Lyman's 450 & 4500; I'll see how they compare to...

Sorry, I thought I had the photo function figured out. One of the top punches and one of the sizers are in Lyman boxes. I'll check out their web site and see what I can learn. I found nothing about...

A friend gave me this lube sizer, 2 top punches, 2 sizing dies, and 2 sticks of SPG. My only experience is with Lee sizers, so I have a lot to learn. First off, who made this little orange wonder?...
I don't have any knowlege to share yet, but I was bitten by the 40 bug last weekend too! Mine's a Taurus PT 101 (with adjustable sights). I'll be very interested in what advice comes along.

Glad to hear you're staying warm, 1Shirt! It was -4 when I left the house.
I'm glad you didn't experience any lasting effects (other than the educational ones) from your mishap. I'm religious...
I just acquired a Taurus PT 101 in 40 S&W. Anything unusual I should know about casting & loading for it? Any perfect moulds or loads?

I tried something today that I thought I'd share.
It was +12 degrees in my casting shed when I plugged in my lead pot this morning. I noticed my ingots were darn cold when I put the first batch...
I learned the same thing that Dr. A posted above. 10 gr Trail Boss under the RCBS 270 cast from 10:1 is a nice load in my Super Redhawk. Sized to .454", there's no leading in the barrel and no ache...

I just picked up an RCBS 45-270-SAA. I plan to feed it to my SRH 454. Is it reasonable to hope for 1400 fps? If so, what alloy and load would you recommend?
Thanks,
Doug

The possums in my neighborhood tend to run for cover when I confront them. I prefer my Super Redhawk 454-loaded with 7 1/2 shot- for work in the garage. The first round will usually roll a...
for a new semi-auto. Probably in 45 ACP. I'd like to feed it lead boolits, and don't want to spend an inordinant amount of time cleaning lead out of the barrel. What's my best bet?

I'm a dipper with Lee Liquid Alox, too. Grab the nose, dip them to the crimping groove, then set them on waxed paper. It took me awhile to believe that a THIN coat of LLA will do the job- guess I...

I saw this several years ago in the Dixie Gun Works catalog. I planned to order one, but never got around to it. I'll be interested in your impressions, too.

Hummm....Too smooth...THAT'S why I come here! I'm always learning!
(Just to be clear- smooth is OK for bourbon, but bad for barrels & cast boolits- right?)
Can't wait to break out the vinegar...

Thanks for your posts. I'll try the trick with the ball, looking for the imprint of the weave at the location of the grooves, however .490 and .495 balls with patching ranging from .010"...

I have several LEE round ball molds in revolver and rifle calibers. They seem to work well. For rifle competition I do sort them by weight, and cull the heavy/light ones. Very few go more than +/- 1...

You suggested to "Always start with the patch, THEN fit the ball." How should I go about that? Also, "find a ball that loads without a short starter"- is that with or without a patch? A...
