Thanks for the replies. I'm not really planning on more than trapdoor level loads, but does anyone know What type of loads these single shots can handle?

Ive never used dacron filler but I'm inspired by this thread to try 45-70 w/2400 loads (18-21grs.) & 405gr boolits I've got a couple questions which might seem dumb but I just want to be sure:

With the muzzlebreak, Did it come with a thread protector if you want to remove the muzzlebreak?
What do you think of the muzzlebreak?
I like the Leopold rifleman?(cheapest line) 2-7x. 2X is good enough for hunting (1X would be ideal) and 7X good for targets I picked up a couple on sale pre pandemic for under $200-(made me swear off...

Standard loads may be too low and give you a squib. I have a Ruger SRH 454 and i loaded 45 colt loads in it(454 Brass) & got boolits stuck! Bring wood dowels & hammer & be aware & careful
Experience with only one box of LR (1500) worked well, seemed consistant. harder to ignite than Federal but thats not necesarrilly a bad thing

Update- Success! Thanks again for the help. I first tried the candle method but I guess not all candles burn the same, mine wasn't hot enough & I still got split necks. Next I used a blowtorch & 42...

"the ring" is a line (not a ring/bulge) in the neck below the mouth from where the crease used to be in the 30-06. it is harmless and not always present

Not 100% sure of the year I started reloading, guess 1990-91?(fall of yugoslavia cut off my supply of 6.5x55)but it was with an anniversary press kit, which I still have the press (and leaky powder...

Forum: Swaging
Can't help you with the swaging, but in these lean times, have you considered cast boolits, maybe at "mousefart" levels?
Ive had fun with these:...

Hows the trigger? Mine is awful, but besides that, the gun shows a lot of potential

I couldn't put it any better than this, but want to add, my boys outgrew their single shot in 2 trips to the range. A good bolt action repeater on the other hand, is forever

Gobeyond,
Does your bolt close on a round with this .450" sized boolit?
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
You may run into the difficulty I had in that the necks are too narrow to chamber a large enough boolit! One solution is a "heeled" boolit.
See this thread especially on post #3...
