If you heat treat a bullet and then powder coat it at 400 degrees and slowly let the bullet cool, is the hardness that was obtained by heat treating reduced?

Is that the Lee part number 90798?

Yes, I am using the Lyman m die with a 25 cal plug and it evidently doesn't expand the neck enuff!

Will the NOE expander fit into the Lyman M die that I already have?

I pulled a bullet and it measured .2567. Way too small! There in lies my problem.
I loaded some .261 bullets in cases that were fired but not sized and the leading was non-existent!
Thanks for...

I am sizing to. 2585 in a custom push thru Lee type sizer.
This size works well with my RCBS 25-120 that wears agas check. With this RCBS mould I get no leading.

Surely somebody has a theory about what is going on here!

Bullet is the NOE 260-118RF in plain base.
Powders are Smokes traffic purple and Smokes flat black.
Both covered very well, at least as well as the RCBS 25-120 that doesn't lead, but used a gas...
I have a custom Remington 700 in 35 Whelen with a 1:12 twist It loves the Lyman 358009 cast from 10:1 (ww:lino) and heat treated. Velocity is 2200fps. It has accounted for 2 bull moose, 1 bull elk...

I feel fortunate to have a Lee clone of the 311041 in 6 cavity.
I'm looking for a load with it for my 336 Marlin.

Did Smoke give a reason why he's not carrying Traffic Purple any longer?
Traffic purple and JD Green are the best powders for covering that I have found in Smokes line of powders.

I believe that a member here by the handle of " Ammohead" used to make a push through type.
Perhaps he still does!?

A piece of rough leather, like a work glove, will usually remove lead smears from a mould or sprue plate that is hot. As others have said, a minute amount of 2 stroke motor oil on the underside of...

I almost bought a couple of hundred cases that were supposedly. 250 Savage reformed from .270 Winchester. They were tried in my bolt action Savage MDL 16 and wouldn't fit. Upon measuring, we found...

When I lived in Pa. 50 years ago, the best gun shows were in Greensburg.
Do they still have them?

So it's a number 4x40tpi screw with the dimensions given?
Thanks for the info.
Where would be a good source for this screw?
Forum: Cast Boolits
If you'd powder coat those 311041's you wouldn't have to worry about a lube star. It would also enable you to use a real soft alloy that would be great for a game boolit!
Forum: Gunsmithing Tips & Tricks
I need to know the screw size and thread type of the small screw on either side of the receiver that functions as a lock screw for the screw next to it.
Thanks--Shuz

I'm gonna try some Red Dot with the NOE 260 105. Groups have been less than stellar with Reloder 7 and this boolit.
Forum: Cast Boolits
Have you tried it at 100 yds?
How about 250 Savage or .25-06?
Forum: Cast Boolits
I use large pistol primers in place of large rifle primers in cast boolit loads.
Forum: Cast Boolits
Anybody have any experience with the NOE 260 105 in either the .250 Savage or the .25-06 that they would like to share?
