Note the recoil was stout enough to unseat the ramrod. Whoops. On the other hand, I'll bet anything on the other end of that 220 grain lead ball would have a REALLY bad day.

We tried like all get out to answer some of that today, and if the WIND hadn't been so nuts...well, we might know more.
As it is, Da Boy brought out the Hip Howitzer to see what the difference...

So, we went today. The wind was so insanely strong that I had to tie four bags full of rocks to the target stand to keep it from tipping over. The hearing protection kept my hat on! But make it we...
I did try it with black, mentioned in the black powder cartridge forum...it didn't go well due to my own idiocy. I have new testers in 45 Colt BP ready to try, hopefully with the mistakes fixed.
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
Well I have to say the "fill it until it crunch's" went SO hard against very long term standards of weighing charges...I tried, I did, but I went back and weighed everything to make sure it was all...
Cylinder pin is captive. Never considered the loading lever, but since this gun will VERY likely never be used anywhere other than the range, where I have my bag and tools, not too worried about it. ...
But since my Uberti 1858 New Model Army is now wearing a Howell Conversion Cylinder, that makes it a smokeless firearm, not a black powder revolver...
So we tried the Howell with some new loads, but...

Anyone have any suggested loads with the 200 gr SWC? I can find data for the 250 and 255s all over the place, but my bigger lube groove boolit right now is the 200 gr ones I posted earlier. This load...

So, twinscrewcanoe, what happened? Didja get the load out?
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
Well, my SPG lube was delivered today, when I get some time off work I'll get started!
Forum: Cast Boolits
Odd, been using that boolit powder coated for many years...
Edit to add, Great Scott, reading comprehension is BAD with me this year. I apologize.
I have used the 125gr Lee boolit myself, powder...

Sorry, I wouldn't give you $20 for that - it's ugly and useless, and the grip looks positively painful.

@AZ Muzzleloaders - I found Remington #10s at Scheels in Chandler a few days ago for $9.99 per tin.

How MUCH did you measure into your chambers? You did use a powder measure, right? Powder that is ground down has to be screened to ensure uniformity, or at least as uniform as you can get.
Forum: Gunsmithing Tips & Tricks
I know an excellent black powder revolver gunsmith in Arizona, @Jackrabbit1957. I don't know if he is on this board.

Thank you for that tip, I will try that next time. As it is I discovered the beeswax bullets I was using for the lube base are VERY old and that might be why the home made lube won't stay on the...

I don't know, but it's worth exploring! Yes, I PC'd some of them last night and loaded up testers with AA#2 for the conversion cylinder and the Judge.

Yeah, sorry, I have what I have, can't afford a new machine right now, my bad. I apologize.
Thank you to everyone for your help, much appreciated.
