For high performance handloaders, casting your own heat treated, high antimony lead alloy buckshot is the answer to pellet deformation concerns.
Consider:
"Indeed, a choke friendly, easy to assemble load!
Two pellet layers, combined with PSB buffer, provide a very fluid transit through forcing cone and choke constrictions."...
Wouldn't it be more important to fit a three buckshot pellet stack to the choke?

A few further thoughts.
The 2.760"industry maximum length for 12 ga 3" with a rolled crimp, has been around for a long time. Shotguns like the 870 have the action length to easily handle...
Try to hold the overall length of the Tri-Ball 3" Buckshot under the spec length of 2.760" which is the industry standard for 12 ga 3" with a rolled crimp.
Perhaps this load will solve the question of "will it feed" in the 12 gauge Mossberg 500/Maverick 88 series:

The Primed new shotshell case, (hull), for handloaders is a relatively new development in the modern component market.* Clear plastic hulls are relatively new as well. And this, apparently, made...
The OP has run into two opposing general concerns, as illustrated above in post 27 & 29.
There seems to be little industry concern about the possibility of powder migration from the common pairing...
Yet long enough to cycle through a Mossberg 500/590 without an adapter:

Only if your RTO is deeper than need be.

The Hodgdon load data center is replete with tapered wad loads for straight wall hulls. The same is true of published Alliant shotshell load data.

Just when you didn't expect it.
These low pressure roll crimp loads are built around the BP1044 wad and Herco powder. The "mild-mannered" version is listed in the 1250 fps range and rated close...

The comparison with a 31 cal. C&B and 25acp were mentioned simply to provide some non-shotgun perspective. A perspective to be translated to the distances at which multiple simultaneous vital hits...
Some further notes:
The round ball baliistics page noted earlier, allows weight adjustments for hard cast pellets.
The program is pre-set for 70F. for air density purposes. Colder temperatures...
Same would be true of a 25acp with its 50 grain bullet at 750 fps muzzle velocity, abeit with somewhat greater penetration.
Over the years i have heard some rather "interesting observations" about buckshot.
Perhaps the oldest was several decades ago during the midday break between deer drives. One hunter was going on...
I concur regarding graphite. Indeed, graphite is not needed to tumble / polish hard cast buckshot pellets.
