Yup. It has worked with every lube I've used too. But, I will say that 777 is pretty hot and leading is the result. So, lube of some sort seems to be important.

Nothing against the condition 1 argument.
However, the 1912 U.S. Army training manuals caution that the gun is NOT to be carried with the hammer cocked and safety locked.
I'm guessing there...

I compete weekly with black powder. I use ordinary plastic wads to assemble my loads. I use a Claybusters pink wad with number 38 powder bushing in the MEC, 1 1/8 oz shot, assembled in Remington...

You really have to get some beeswax, IMHO.
I use 45% Beeswax, 45% Crisco, 5% lanolin, and 5% carnuba wax.
There was a long discussion about paraffin, and most feel it works O.K. with black. ...

With a HEAVY barrel, lead projectiles, and black powder propellant, they'll keep up with most modern rifles.

Actually, the two kinds of guys are ones who've used fillers and never had a problem, and guys who've used fillers and have had a detonation problem.
After ruining a beautiful Hi Wall by ringing...

Of all the place where a blow-out, or separation, could occur, the case head is the least desirable (if that's the right word).
I think it is too risky to use balloon head cases in modern rifles. ...

When you run out of elevation, a canted scope mount is the solution.
Canted mounts come in 20 MOA, 30 MOA, and even 40 MOA elevation.
A canted mount is higher in the rear than in the front. In...

The only way I could get to the pigs with standard sights was to duplex the black powder loads. I never could get enough holy black in there to reach out to the 300 meter line. I was, however,...

Never have seen a cowboy action shooter who was successful at getting Semi-Wad Cutter design bullets to run well in a lever action rifle (92, 73, 66, 94 Marlins). So, I'd start with a different...

A couple of observations.
First, the '73 rifle was designed to run for a while without cleaning. However, it was designed around a very particular cartridge that allowed the rifle to continue...

Well, "way out there" and "long range" are relative terms and cause me to ask, "just what distances will you be shooting?"
The leaf sights are good to about 200-300 yards in my experience. A...

I shoot with a bunch of Savage fanatics and they've infected me.
I'll tell you this: the Savage rifles are the best, out of the box rifles money can buy. If accuracy is the goal, no rifle made...

I have tried several (RCBS, Lee, Redding) dies in this caliber. The best, and one I'm currently using, is the Hornady.

I've been using Trail Boss in the 38=40 for wild bunch competition. It performs consistently and accurately. Leaves the gun clean, too.

Yes, Flitz or Iosso Gun Brite Polish or Semi Chrome Polish. (all three are similar)
I use Iosso Gun Brite on my Colt's Nickel gunz.

Black powder is not corrosive. It IS hydroscopic.
If you live in a damp climate, the black powder residue will attract and hold water. That, in turn, will corrode the case.
If they cases are...

I know they made the No. 3 in 375 Winchester (same round dimensionally), but I've never heard of a 38-55 in either No. 3 or No. 1 rifle.
