I took a powder measure like you have in that picture of the 1860 and ReStamped it with marks that are accurate for the lighter density homemade powder.
That way I don’t have to be figuring out the...

I picked up two tubes of Prussian Blue from auto parts store.
Not all carry it. But they almost all carry the permatex supplies , so they could order it for you

That Lock was rebuilt from a Factory Lock So that it fit and worked on this pistol.
Factory parts can be redesigned or modified to fit other guns you build.
The barrel cut off had to have a factory...

The pistol seems to be durable.
If you didn’t have a 30 or 40 grain powder measure.
Why don’t you only half or 3/4 fill the 60 grain measure.

I do punch them with a hammer.
I have a drill press , but just haven’t tried using it as a press.
The second punch set up I use makes my primers the correct size and flatter on top so they fit the...

I agree about how many cap you can make out of one can , even using double layer strips.
I made 800 primers in 4 days.

Yep
A cheap Endoscope is well worth having.
Especially if you like buying Used Guns.
Another thing you mentioned is right. Using TooMuch nail polish does make it gummy to a point it can plug the...

I was only talking about testing how the Acetone /Powder binder burns.
Just take some of your Binder and paint a little bit in a little strip of paper or a strip of aluminum.
Let it dry.
Then...

Have you sample lit something with that Powder/Acetone binder dried out on it.
You can test it and see if that binder with the powder Boosts the ignition of the primer.

I just use a few drops of Nail Polish in Acetone for my binder.
There is a little color in the Acetone but barely not super visible color when dry.
You don’t want to put too much nail polish in and...

Nope
I had to make my own toys.
I still do.

Funny thing is,
About 90 % of things that I do or teach others , were things that I figured out how to do them myself.
Maybe in my life, I have always had too much money and time.

Thank you friend.
I am glad that I helped you get pointed in the right direction.
I love helping others.

I do have access to that kind of cash.
But I am not into those type of revolvers any more.

I went to the .61 bore diameter on that Renegade because , I had a .600 dia round ball mold.
The rifled barrel shoots better at 100 yards then the original .56 SB did.
I intended on using that .61...

I also have a .75 cal smoothbore flintlock Blunderbuss / Musketoon that the barrel is 1” wide at the narrowest point near the muzzle of the barrel .
The breech area of the barrel is 1 1/8” octagon....

I had Hoyt take a 1” octagon 56 smooth bore out to .61 rifled barrel
That barrel fits one of my TC Renegades.
Bobby Hoyt can give you the information you need to know for your type of barrel

I also tried 45 casings filled with lead . They worked good but there was still just a little lead exposed.
I had crimped them over some more with a Socket and hammer.
I probably could have done...

When I tried using Powder Coated balls in my mill,
The PC did start chipping off .
It did leave tiny colored flakes in my powder.
But didn’t affect the powder burning.
But you can see,
If the PC...

You can always size those slugs to a diameter that works best for your gun.
The size of your castings can also be from the type of material you are using.
Pure lead cast different than most alloys....
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
Those slugs look good.
You are using them for shooting out of the cartridge in both of your pistols.
Will that 200 grainer work as a conical in your BP revolver cylinder.
Forum: Black Powder Cartridge
Are you going to try the softer lead for the boolits that you will shoot with BP
Forum: Muzzleloading.
Still cheaper than finding a brand new barrel and also paying shipping
