Bill*B ....Is that a Federal 209 primer in your posted receipt?
It would be useful to know the specific Federal hull you refer to. Is that the Gold Medal?

Hello.
Can anybody point me to an online source for previous editions of Alliant loading data?
Thank you for any help and apologies if this information is already on CastBoolits.

Take note that the CCI 157 primer has a covered flash hole, whereas the Remington 57 has open flash hole. Ball powder should not be used with latter type.

Thank you for the clarification on this point.
Previously I had assumed the "stack height" to mean the combined powder, wad(s) and shot column - the optimal total height supposedly being that which...
Forum: Shot Guns
Cap'n could you define exactly "the stack height"? Measured from the base wad uppermost surface, ,,,or the upper surface of powder, or op card - to underside of- or topside- of shot?

As the man says, but I would probably use FFG if available.

Polyurethane varnish/nail polish applied to top card and case mouth inner wall helps with moisture control but is not truly waterproof. A plastic overshot card plus varnish would pretty much form a...

I think that the flat edge RTO would have been applied to reloading used paper case hulls to give a stronger closure. The paper at the case mouth tends to delaminate as well as getting weakened as a...
Just be aware that hulls which have a skived mouth can present a slight problem in achieving a tight RTO as the thin wall may dimple or deform in when applying pressure, particularly if the plastic...

The comments regarding insufficient pressure appertain however the Fiocchi hulls primer chamber may be oversize for typical US 209 primers ie a loose fit contributing to the result.
It would be of...

BGI made a hand RTO tool as per your post. The RTO head was reversible - one side for flat and one for round edge RTO. The pins contained in the head have a flat edge to contact the hull mouth - for...
Length of free tube desirable to make RTO depends to some extent if you are loading slug or birdshot. Paper hull requires slightly more free tube than plastic. Paper hull should not really be longer...
Hi 15meter I would be grateful if you could email me with a copy of that Alcan manual.

The Rem SP hull above is the old style with a fibrous composition basewad and a smaller primer socket than current 209 primer size. There was a Rem 57, a CCI 157 & Alcan G57F - the last one being...
Plastic wads on top of BP will cause a lot of plastic residue to line the barrel, so make sure to clean the bore well afterwards.
Top wads can be sealed well in brass cases with silicon sealants -...

LRR01 - I am asking myself just exactly what blackpowder load would require the level of accuracy in volume that this Hollywood measure may deliver. And does it's degree of accuracy vary depending on...

I have used a Redding No2 for 25 years. Excellent build (US manufacture), reliable, virtually failsafe. Cannot vouchsafe the new ones of ?foreign manufacture.

Thank you Ken. I am looking for a primer post/seating component and not the primer punch/knock out unit.
Appreciate your comment.
Neil.

thanks for that. I had hopes that this site might get a result without going the evilbay route !

Hello.
Can anyone direct me to a source where I may find a 209 primer type seating post for a LAA loading press?

Can anyone tell me if tooling was produced for the Senior Turret press to reload 10G or 16G shotshells?
Unfortunately there is no mention of powder formulation ( ie "ball" powder, granular or flake ) nor the type of primer ( ie sealed or open/unsealed flash hole ) - such information might provide a...
