I started with a lee 309-170-F and have never found a reason to try anything else. Dropped a doe at 80+ yards from my Winchester 94 30-30 this last fall.

I have ran into the same problem with unique in a Lee powder measure, sometimes it meters great, and other times there seems to be quite a variance. I don't know if it is the weather, static...
I recently tried using a synthetic 2 stroke oil on my molds and found that it works well, but seems to burn off faster than bullplate lube. I can't seem to remember what brand oil I used, maybe...

I love that story. Reminds me of the time I got an old axe head for a few bucks, and decided to put a new handle on it, thinking of what a great deal I was getting on a good old quality axe. Well,...

To me it seems like my .44 is not as bad as my .357's, but my .44 has a 6 inch barrel and my .357's are 2 to 4 inches long. Interesting discussion.

I ordered some lube the other day and got an email sunday saying it is on the way.

Thanks for all the responses. I cast a batch of 429421's today out of a pretty soft mystery alloy ( I think about 50% lead and 50% WW), and a batch of air cooled WW. I would like to try some of...

Fredj338, that boolit and wound look impressive. Thats the lyman devastator isnt it? I was thinking of trying one of the lyman devastators but really dont want to have to use gas checks. Are there...

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to load up some hotter loads with 2400 and hopefully try the same boolits on another doe if I can find the time to sneak away and hunt some more. White Eagle, your...

After years of saying I was going to deer hunt with handgun only, I finally did it this year. I used a .44 mag S&W 629 6 inch barrel and was shooting Lyman 429421 cast from water dropped wheel...

Coleman stove and a cast iron pot from a thrift store is all I have ever used. Keep thinking one of these days I will upgrade, but I guess if it aint broke, dont fix it.

I bought a new S&W 629 about 2 weeks ago, and while it does have the "rocket ship things" between the lands, they appear to be smooth, and I am having great luck with cast lyman 429421 boolits as...

Ok, you guys are right. I pan lubed about 100 bullets last night, and about 20 came out with lube on them, but thats another topic. Anyway, I loaded the 20 up with 16 grains of 2400, shot them this...

Just got a new S&W 6 inch 629 .44 mag and have a question about lubing my boolits. I have always used LLA on everything I have cast with great results, and was wondering if it is sufficient for...

I have a new s&w 629 on the way. I sure hope it don't look like that. That is simply unacceptable.

I haven't been around here much lately, but Geargnashers post on here was one of the most informative posts I think I have ever read. I printed it to keep with my loading data!

Thanks for the replies. I think I will just shoot up the rest of my jacketed bullets, and stick with cast in this gun from now on. Anyone have any experience with shooting deer with .357 158 grain...

I have a question for you guys. Is it normal to have a horizontal point of impact difference between jacketed bullets and cast? I understand a vertical difference, but my Ruger GP100 consistently...

I loaded some up a while back for light snub nose loads and they worked fine, but did not shot to point of aim, really high or low, I cant remember for sure. I loaded them as cast. They were...

Well, thanks for you help guys. I stopped by the local gunshop to pick up some 2400, but they were out, so I asked for #9, but they were out of that too. They suggested H110 so I picked up a pound...

Thanks for the quick replies guys. My .38 bullets are just straight air cooled wheel weights with some tin added. I will give them a try. I guess Im just trying to cheat and get some advise from...

Hi. I just got a Ruger GP100 in .357 magnum, and am anxious to try to harvest a doe with it (already got my buck). I have cast for a couple .38's with good luck, but I was afraid my .38 bullets...
