I am beginning to prepare for the up and coming cool weather, as I have a serious back log of WWs and Pure Lead to melt down! I have managed to dwindle my casting stash down to about 50 lbs!!...
This gun uses the same barrels that are in the 5" Dan Wesson pistols. Both of my 5" Dan Wesson's run my Lee H&G 68 clones flawlessly sized to .452", as well as the the 230 gr TL RN sized to .452"....

I think I will start using the car wash soap for the added slickness. The ol Dawn leaves them kinda tacky.

Yea, this has been very confusing to me as well!!! 2x4 and any kind of saw!!!
If you absolutely don't have any means of creating sawdust, go to Lowe's or Home Depot back where they cut the wood...

Thanks!
Just make sure you press in firmly on the lid...it ain't pretty when it breaks lose! If the first shake doesn't coat well, do it a second time and it should cover them really well.

Humidity has been in the 70 to 80% range a lot lately. I have DT'd about 400 casts lately with no coverage issues. Here is a video of my process in hopes that it will help others with their swirling...

I have yet to do my benchrest testing, but my PC'd bullets do pretty well offhand. These are all 200 gr SWC with 4.1 gr of WST.

OP, swirl harder! I used to get the same spots back when I started...I wasn't swirling hard enough.

I have notice on the first introduction of PC into a new bowl with BB's, that the BB's will take up most of the powder. Therefore, I put in a couple of spoonfuls and just run the BB's around until...

How do you swirl a square container? I would think it would knock the powder off each time it hits a flat surface.

Go with Smoke's powder...the best you will find.

Here is my clear PC bowl for a reference:

Welp, I am realatively young compared to many who post here (34) and 1911's are all I buy. I have bought 6 in the past year and half. So, if you ask me they are more than alive, they are kickin...

Why the argument? If you don't like it and don't want to try, then don't!
Clean dies, clean fingers, clean barrels, increased hardness, less smoke....what more do you want!

I don't ever do it all on the same day, I don't have that kind of time. A 50 lb melt will take me about 2-3 hours in total. I usually only cast for 2-3 hours and get on average 500 bullets or 14...

I did the same as you and just went straight to PC. It's so much cleaner and easier to deal with IMHO.

Very slick! They go thru the push thru sizer like butter.

Apparently, this just isn't my week to be reloading and casting. I was reloading last night and after my 20th loaded cartridge, the pistol meter insert on my LNL AP decided to just drop out of my...

Well, there are actually 2 adjustments you can make. You have the valve rod screw which is what I was turning and shouldn't have been. The bolt head that connects the handle to the pot is what I...

Yea, one of those 1 am decisions you wish you could have back!! I have been extremely careful thus far, just let a moment slip and paid the price. Like you said, didn't get hurt, so being a mistake...
