I converted a mold from base pour to nose pour (with country gent's help) and I used O-1 ground plate I found at Online Metals. Machinable and very flat. Worked great.

I saw a used Hawkeye with 90 degree eyepiece for sale recently for $550. That's a good buy. The Hawkeye is hands down better than a Teslong.

I size before and after PC. These are for target use. PC will add a thou or 2 to the diameter, so I size after.

The two rifle molds I use have one grease groove. I use the groove to grab the bullet with long tweezers and stand them up to cook. Doesn't remove the powder from bearing surface.
Bigslug, did you use the same alloy as you usually do? Since I use lino, I was thinking of using pure lead for the lap, should be a tad smaller and turn easier.
I would be looking to lap, not add a spacer between halves. I had thoughts of taking a cast bullet and drilling and tapping a hole and run a headless screw in as a means of turning the bullet. I like...

Nice idea mounting the press upside down.
What is the procedure for beagling a mold? The mold I have was supposedly made to be at dimension casting linotype. At one area, it casts small. I would like to hone a little at this area to open it...

My intent is for it to die, not bud or leaf out, then cut it down.

I have a bradford pear tree too close to the house. I want to kill it and cut it down. I drilled a 1/2" hole about 3" deep at a fork, and have been pouring Roundup in the hole from time to time all...

I'm one of the obsessed with accuracy guys. I regularly compete in CBA benchrest. What counts is your score. To me, I don't care what "class" someone shoots in, the score is what counts. If you...

I watched Green Mountain Barrel's site for a long time at those 14 and 12 twist barrels, and they were always out of stock. Gave up. So I bought another lower, upper parts, and turned down a retired...

You're not going to do much about a crooked chamber. Crowns can but re-cut.

After reading through the comments here, I found Generac makes portable units that fall into the same price range as the others. Their website sucks, hard to find the models. One thing I found...

Thanks for the comments. First, I'm not concerned about noise I'm out in the country and don't have to worry about others. JonB, I'm sure it's made in China, maybe it similar to a HF model, but one...

I have a smaller inverter generator that I used for my RV, but it doesn't have a 240 volt outlet. Either of these new gens can do the RV of course. I've never seen a automobile inverter that does 240...

I'm looking at two makes/models, both are 8750 watt inverter, WEN GN875i and Champion 100520. Not looking to power the whole house, just a few circuits and well pump. Anyone familiar with either...

First, this thing about Sako blown back through the raceway to the shooter's face has been hammered to death. I agree with Mr. Taylor, you would have to blow the case apart to make it happen. But,...

I do the cleaning rod method. Easy to do at the range. But that just gives you a COL for that bullet, that seating depth. I usually add .005" to the COL to give a slight seat to the throat, and start...

Amazing that Amazon has those for a hundred bucks or less, and PTG is 4 times that.
Forum: Gas Checks
Good points made here. I think a check needs to be seated into the check. The base of the bullet is square, the inside corner of the check isn't. Plus, many checks (Hornady) are cupped from the...
How are the alignment pins and socket installed in the mold blocks? Are they pressed in? Are they much different from maker to maker?
I'm thinking of converting a bottom pour to nose pour, but one...

I have a 6PPC reamer that I can't count the number of barrels it has cut. I pre-drill the barrel about .050" short of the shoulder. I go in and check/dial in the barrel as close to zero runout as...

I still use a round tray LEE. I load at the range/match often, so a handheld is it. Plus I hate picking one primer at a time. so I have kept the old LEE going.
