M44 Sight Project ***UPDATE***

Update on the Mosin Scout Rifle.
I bedded the rifle with AcraGlas Saturday and let it sit until Wednesday. While I was waiting for the bedding to cure, I turn the sight base down to be flush with the barrel and now it looks like this:

MUCH better in my opinion.

I assembled a few cast bullet loads and fired them. It was late and I was fighting the onset of darkness, but it looks like the ol' girl is going to shoot! Here are the results:

It appears she really likes the Lyman 314299 cast from air-cooled wheelweights. The last target, which was fired at 100 yds. was a little heartbreaking as the first four shots clustered a little under 1". But alas, the darkness won and the final shot of the group opened it up to 1.8". Still not bad at all though!

Next, I'll try to decide on a Scout type scope mount and I'll test her with some different loads. The rifle has a .313" bore, so I'm somewhat limited as to which moulds I can use unless I use PSB for filler which in my experience eliminates leading when slightly undersized bullets are used.
