Lyman 310 dies in .41 Rem Mag???
I am sure Lyman had 310 dies that were for the 41 Rem Mag, but what was the adapter ring and the other parts for it?
Well, the .401 WSL is close to the .41 Mag (closer to the .414!)
Small 310 Handle
#16 adapter die - .401 is rimless, will the 41 Mag rim make a difference?
Large Decapping Rod
#2 Priming Chamber
#147 Muzzle Resizer
Medium expanding chamber
.412 expanding plug
426 seating screw
410426 is the standard Lyman boolit (RN)
Any other cartridges use same shellholder as .41 Remington magnum???
Folks, it looks at this point that the .41 mag has it's own special shellholder size. My efforts to find a similar shellholder (Lee, Lyman, RCBS, Redding, Hornady) seem to fail.
I am tryng to cobble together a 310 Tool die set by using the .401 WSL as a start point, but the WSL uses a rimless case, while the .41 has a rimmed case. Tried to find a similar shellholder, then see what the matching priming adapter would be...
Drawing a blank. Lyman #30 has only one cartridge listed, the .41 Mag... :2 drunk buddies:
Hug my knees I'm so keyed up (41 mag Contender rifle barrel ships today!)
Well, one long journey stops and the next one begins.
Anticipation, it's makin' me wait! A bit over three and a half months... Part was probably my fault, dunno.

How heavy is heavy? (300+ grains in .41 Mag Contender)
After reading stuff from Paco and Martin, I see the 41 has taken 300 grainers...
Using a Contender rifle barrel, not exceeding 37k psi, aiming for 1,200 or so fps, where is the edge of sanity?
Smokeless seems to be the contender here.
MGM 23" 41 Mag barrel came today... (1-14 twist!)
I'd say things that some here would not think were humanly possible. Such metalwork to make you cry a tear of joy, even if you were a terminator.
The finish is more black than anything. Smooth as my Brittany's lips. Lug underneath looks stainless, as it is bright, no blue on it. Marked on the lug is 1-14.... My first quick peeks on the net is that should be dee-vine for 250 plus grain boolits.
UPDATE: "How is your coated finish done? We use a product called KG Gun Coat. It’s a teflon based coating that sprays on extremely thin. We prep the barrel first by sand blasting it. Next, we pre-heat the barrel to remove all the moisture from the surface. After spraying the coating on, we cook the barrel at 325 degrees for an hour to cure it."
The old retrobate wants me to mount it right now, but I have no plain base boolits yet. Too rainy to cast up some 41-260-FN right now. I do have some SAECO 220s cast up, but no GCs, and lubing will be messy, but not fun.
Nice recessed crown. MGM sends a few pages, some regrettably are lawyer-speak saying don't blow up your gun, then there is a break-in proceedure which would be too expensive for XTPs, and an accuracy gaurranty which is not the norm for some manufacturers... BUT they are quite clear that if you can't make it pop and send it back, they will see what they can do, and if it shoots for them, they will send it back with the targets and loads, and charge you $40.
All in all, not a bad deal.

Casting report on the RCBS 41-260-FN (yes! .410 diameter!)
After some trepidation, I managed to do some casting today. It appears that a .375 and .41 can be paired off, but a .45 and a .41, not so much. Further, the attempt for a three mould cadence is not workable...
Anyways, once I got to just the .41 and .45, the boolits started to drop from the 41-260-FN pretty well, still a little diddling with the sprue plate tension.
But the important thing is that it the RCBS 41-260-FN air drops 10 BHN alloy to a .410 diameter (woo-hoo!) and a .865 length.
The 45-300-FN was troublesome, but I think it is more sprue plate than anything. Probably could cast with it alone

This load is pretty quiet, a 22LR has a much sharper crack. Things to do - the stock G2 trigger is everything it's cracked up to be....
