I need to see if there is a scope ring that is lower than these but not as low as the ones I had on the scope before. They put the scope exactly where I wanted it but the bolt then contacted the scope rather firmly.
I'm filled with anticipation for a range trip.
Yes, I was noticing that the rings were maybe 1/4" higher than APPEAR to be needed, but
I am not there and was not going to say anything. Just because the front bell of the scope
clears by 1/4 inch "too much", doesn't mean that the bolt handle does too. Not going to hurt
anything at all.
Best of luck at the range. You already have the beauty contest won, now you have to
prove that it (she?) can shoot as good as it looks.

Chris, yes I can.
I've used Watco Danish Oil recently and been quite pleased with it. I think I used Tru-Oil on some
Carcano stocks about 40 yrs ago - got good results - well, as good as any Carcano stock
could look, but it is long enough that I may have it wrong.

I ordered a lower set of rings. Maybe they'll position the scope just a bit lower without it having any contact with the bolt.
I'm anxious for a range trip.
I packed up the rifle and some ammo and hope to get to the range tomorrow morning.
A couple pictures of the current project. Lynn sent me pictures of another rifle she wanted me to duplicate as close as I could. I hope I came close!

Hi Joni/Waksupi. I have a custom 280 Ackley. It is the most accurate rifle I own outside of a 220 swift.
Every rifle is different of cource but mine really likes Reloader 19/21 depending on bullit weight. Give it a go, I think you might be pleasently surprised.
