Thank you very much! I've been lurking for a while and just cast my first 9mm, 12 ga slugs, and 00 buckshot these past 2 weeks. I did notice a change in the finish from shiny to dull. I tried adjusting my temp, I used a temp gun and dial thermometer. I don't know a lot of things but I know that's not good. I want to fix this issue early. I appreciate the lead

A PID from Hatch is worth the money and the time you will save. I have two from him.
Shiney to dull is not exactly a bad thing . As everything heats up the boolits will start dropping with a lightly frosted look ... if this is the dull you see ... it okay and normal ... means everything is hot and flowing well ... I like to cast mine right at frosty (dull) everything flows well . I started casting in 1967 , no PID or thermometer I cast by experience and how the boolts look .
If you powder coat ... it sticks to lightly frosted better than shiney .
Don't assume you have a problem ... ask here , loads of answers that will save you head aches !

I just unboxed a PID from Hatch and fired up a new 420 pot. It worked great. I really recommend it. I’ve never cast such consistent projectiles.
PID is just not for your lead pot, you can use them on your sizer heater, oven you powder coat with, or hot plate. There are many uses for a PID unit.
I have been using a PID from Hatch for a few years. I love it! It has worked perfectly, and makes it easy to concentrate on the bullets instead of the temp.
