Can Anyone ID this Mold?
I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I have this mold that I likely bought in the early 90's.
I mostly cast for muzzleloaders, as that is most of the molds I have. Of all my molds this is one I cannot identify.
It appears to be some type of Maxi-Ball.
All I know is that from my caliper measurements is that it is a .54 cal.
Only Markings on it is the number 948 as seen in the pic.
By the weight and looks it is steel and not aluminum.
I have searched the number on the mold with no luck.
Thank You
Steve

Looks to be a TC maxi ball mould may have been made by Thompson Center or Lyman.
-
Lyman maxi ball mold maybe.

Thompson Center made
as you say, 54 Maxi which is a sought after mold

I'm with country gent... TC Maxi.
That looks to be the black anodized aluminum not Ideal or Lyman iron. Easy to check, get a magnet and see if the mould is magnetic (mould blocks not sprue plate). If so it will be Lyman, if not then likely TC aluminum... or someone's aluminum anyway. The lyman mould should also have the full number which is 540619.
Here is a thread that may be of interst:

Check it with a strong magnet to see if it's iron or not. Btw, it's also possible that mould was made by Green Mountain, Ohaus, or Shiloh for Thompson/Center.
