.50 b.p. Mold ???
Who else besides Lee sells a .50 caliber HOLLOW BASE bullet mold? i looked at the lyman website, and the one they list looks like it is a solid base. i would like to get away from shooting sabots ALL of the time. the Hornady great plins boolits are fine, but it seems pretty sensless to buy lead boolits, when i have everything except the mold here already.

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but I bought a lee REAL mold used from someone here to try it out. It does pretty good from my old knight mk. 85. I intend to try some from the .50 AE later this year.

I think Lyman sells a "Great Plains" mould.
if not lyman, then someone else, but it is plain based I think. I think it is multiple diameter for easy seating.
I picked up a reamer to make a "PAS" type relief in my muzzle. I want to try full diameter boolits that engrave upon loading. (a R.E.A.L. boolit from any 50cal mould!)

You do not need a hollow base, just fit the rifling. Use pure lead.

I have excellent results with my REAL 320 gr boolit in my .50
Behind 100 Gr of black, it has the energy of a 7MM Mag at the muzzle and is accurate beyond 100 yards. That's bout all I need.

A Paper Patched Lee C-501-440-RF is an incredible bullet both for accuracy and deadly on game. Do a search in the muzzleloader section on some of the threads I have written. Ron

Look for used TC MAxi ball molds or even a round ball and patch. Why would anyone intentionally foul their bore with plastic?
