Hi-Tek Bullet coating not covering hollow base bullets

Did my first attempt at Hi-Tek coating some wadcutter cast bullets. The coating actually looks better than the picture.

Cast solids and some with the "two" hollow base configurations.

Noticed that with the dome style HB the coating is not coating the inside occasionally. Ironic is that the deep hollow base bullets are coating inside nicely.

Once I'm done testing to determine which of the (3) works best in my revolver I will no longer cast the other two variations....but in the meantime:

Been shaking and rolling them as directed, anyone else have this problem?

Your coating looks good, I don't see how lack of coating in the hollow base is a problem, other than cosmetic.

Thanks...learned that the hollow base bullets size best with the base entering the sizer first.

Mix thinner. More accetone in the mix would coat the HPs

G'day. I had the same problem when coating Lyman 1oz 12Ga slugs. THe one that look like an air rifle pellet.
Instead of mixing the normal mix of 20gms of powder to 100mls of acetone, and then using 6mls of the mix to coat.

I mixed 20gms of powder to 100 mls of acetone, but added 50mls of Metho (de-nutured Alcohol) and used 10mls of this mix to coat 2lbs of the slugs.
Swirling took a considerable time before the coating "Flashed Off" But it coated up in the hollow base of the slugs and baked perfectly for 2 coats.
Slug shot great. And they looked cool in the loaded shell with the Green nose of the slug visible with the roll crimp...

I’ve done something similar to Trevor, only it was with twice the acetone as solvent and twice the amount per batch to deliver the same amount of HiTek. This was to get good coverage inside the lube grooves of a traditionally designed 9mm bullet. Of course it was just for aesthetics, since it wouldn’t show in a loaded round and wouldn’t contact the rifling anyway, but, hey, it scratched my itch.
