Lyman 48 Receiver Sight
I have an old Lyman 48 to fit Winchester model 70, and it needs a screw to fit the windage knob assembly to the main arm.
This screw is small ! And I have no idea where to get a replacement. Does anyone know where a screw like this can be found ?
The screw is about 1/8 inch long, and about 1/64 across the threads.
thanks

Have you tried Gun Parts Corp? Hopefully they'll have it. If you watch eBay close, occassionally an arm will come up for bids. There is also a gentleman who sells sights and parts....I mean LOTS of sights:
Garry Fellers
7117 S. Ridge Trail
Fort Worth, Texas 76133-7122
817-346-9633 or FAX: 817-346-0690.
Good luck,

Thanks a lot, I live in Washington State, so I will contact him by mail, with SASE.

What about calling Lyman?

Second the Gary Fellers suggestion

If memory serves me, Lyman only used the 4/48 on the mounting body. The other parts are essentially stock off the shelf parts.
However, you will not probably find them in the Hardware store.
The thing to do, is to go to the Hardware store with the threaded part and match the threads.
You might just get lucky.
I have on several occasions.

Extra fine thread screws found on most firearms are available from Brownells. They should have something that will work for you.
You are not likely to find these in a hardware store. One of the big online hardware places like Grainger, MSC, or McMaster-Carr may have it.

The first step is to identify the size of the screw and the threads per inch. If you can nail that down, you can find, made or modify something that will work. I have come to believe that just about anything can be fixed if you are stubborn and willing to hunt until you find it.
Anything made by a man, can be screwed up by another man, and fixed by yet another man.
