I would like to add a list of home made lube recipes to the article. If your making your own lube post the recipe including ingredients, method of making it, BP or smokeless and any success or failures you've had with it and I'll add a bunch of the them to the article.
Rick
Informative as ever, good site that.
Thought they might have mentioned Alox though, or did I miss it?
Nope, you didn't miss alox, I just haven't found the info on it as yet to put it in the article. If you know of a web site that's not copyrighted where I could get valid info I'll include a section on it.

WOW ( CBRICK ) Great info on the Lube.
Thank you
Glad I did not find it yesterday I may not have mad my own.
Here it is .
1) small SS CUP about the 1/2 cup size.
I used the whole tube of Lanolin so you get have a feel of the quantity
1) Part breast Lanolin
1) Part Vasoline
1/8) Part Parrafin wax
1/4) 99% Rubbing Alcohol
1/10) Part lighter fliud.
In a SS Cup on the propane burner low low flame put the Lanolin, Vasolin. wax in
and watch it melt.
Shut flame.
Care fully *******
When melted add the Alcohol slowly ( flamable) on a stove and if liquid is to hot.
Pour into a small glass jar and add the drops of lighter fluid.
Shake shake shake put on some good music.
Then pour back into the SS cup.
It will solidify into a nice kinda hand cream. not to sticky.
I rubbed my thumb in it ans put on the brass case and rolled it in my fingers.
Just my experiment but reied it and I like it.

I really want to try the sharps' lube but I am having trouble finding the sperm whale oil......
it's been replaced by dexron a.t.f.
Great info, thanks for the sticky!
How are you guys storing your bullet lube, not the case lube though?
For my LLA/JPW/MS mix, I mix it up and store it in the Lee LLA bottles. I use a masking tape label denoting what is in it and what the mix is.
For my stick lubes, I roll them in wax paper and then stack them in small rubbermaid type of containers I get at The Dollar Store.

Yet again, another great source of info. I'm putting it in my favourites. Ron.D
There are a lot of great recipes for lube some more complex than others, a couple I have used over the years are one I found in the National Rifleman some years back, which consists of equal parts of bees wax, molybdenum disulphide grease and paraffin. Another that I have used with black powder loads is four parts of peanut oil and one part of bees wax.
I just melt 1 lb. starplex moly grease and 1 lb. paraffin then add a small bottle (I think 2 oz.) of graphite and mix. Then I pour this hot liquid into sections of PVC pipe to make stick lube. I've been very happy with the lube. Keith boolits at 1450 in my 41 mag (water dropped wheel weight) no problems. Don't put this lube in your lead pot. I will gum stuff up.
